Seto Shino & Koseto Ware

Seto Shino & Koseto Ware

Shino (志野) glaze is a traditional glaze that originated in Mino at the end of the 16th century. It features a thickly applied feldspar glaze, creating a rich, milky-white surface. The soft texture of the glaze combined with warm reddish-brown firing spots adds depth and character to each piece.

Koseto (古瀬戸) glaze, also called Red-brown Iron glaze, dates back to the 13th century and is the oldest traditional glaze of Seto Akazu ware. Known for its rich iron-brown color, it ranges from yellowish-brown to deep black depending on the iron content, offering a warm and authentic finish.
