Made of Setoyaki (瀬戸焼) porcelain and handcrafted at Tsubakigama (椿窯) in Seto City, Aichi Prefecture, this yunomi tea cup is designed especially for enjoying sencha. Its gently rounded form fits comfortably in the hand, offering a pleasant balance between elegance and practicality.
The piece is finished with Haiyu (ash glaze), a natural glaze made from plant ash. Expressed only with natural ash and without pigments, it has a simple, warm texture that harmonizes beautifully with the delicate flavor of Japanese green tea. The glaze is primarily made from pine wood ash; because the ash contains a high amount of iron, it produces a soft, natural celadon tone that enhances the serene atmosphere of tea time.

About Tsubaki Kiln
Founded in 1979 by Haruji Hayashi in Jokoji, Seto, Tsubaki Kiln is known for its refined Seto sometsuke (blue-and-white porcelain), crafted using advanced copperplate transfer techniques. In 2012, second-generation potter Eiji Hayashi took over the kiln, blending his background in sculpture and Kyoto-trained skills to bring a fresh perspective. While preserving tradition, he continues to explore new forms of Seto ware with a modern sensibility.
