Kiseto Yellow Rokubei Side Plate
Seto Akazu Ware Side Plate – Kiseto Glaze
This handcrafted side plate is made of Seto Akazuyaki (瀬戸赤津焼), a traditional style of Seto ware produced in Seto City, Aichi Prefecture, Japan. Each piece is carefully shaped at the historic Rokubei Kiln (六兵衛窯) using the potter’s wheel and time-honored methods passed down for over 400 years.
Among Setoyaki, works from the Akazu area are known as Akazuyaki, celebrated for their refined quality and officially certified as a national traditional craft. The Rokubei kiln is one of the most representative kilns, recognized worldwide for producing matcha bowls presented at Expo Milano and commemorative works for the Ise-Shima Summit.
Finished with a traditional Kiseto glaze, the plate reveals a warm yellowish-brown tone enriched by subtle iron in the glaze, creating an elegant yet natural charm. Fine Kannyu (crackle glaze) patterns spread across the surface, changing beautifully with use and allowing you to enjoy the evolving character of the piece over time.
Practical yet refined, this side plate is ideal for serving sushi, appetizers, or desserts while also standing as a piece of Japanese ceramic artistry to enrich your dining experience
