This elegant porcelain mug is ideal for enjoying coffee or tea ☕, bringing a sense of calm and refinement to everyday moments.

Handcrafted at Singama Kiln (眞窯) in Seto City, Aichi Prefecture, this piece reflects over a century of ceramic tradition. Founded in 1919, Singama is one of Seto’s historic kilns, long renowned for its dedication to Sometsuke (blue-and-white ware). Seto itself has over 1,000 years of ceramic history and is considered one of Japan’s most important pottery centers.

The design features a magnolia flower 🌸, delicately painted in shades of cobalt blue using traditional gosu pigment. A subtle touch of gold at the flower’s core adds quiet elegance ✨, while deep indigo leaves create a graceful contrast against the pure white porcelain. The unglazed surface lends a soft, ink painting–like quality, allowing the brushwork to appear gentle and expressive.

The mug has a clean cylindrical form with a comfortably shaped handle that fits naturally in the hand. Its balanced weight and smooth rim make it suitable for daily use, while the refined decoration elevates it beyond ordinary tableware.

Seto Sometsuke-yaki was officially recognized in 1997 as a Traditional Craft of Japan by the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry. Singama’s artisans continue this legacy through techniques such as dami, applying gosu pigment with bold yet fluid brushstrokes that give each piece subtle variation and depth 🎨.

Combining timeless beauty with practical function, this magnolia mug offers a quiet connection to Japanese craftsmanship and tradition, making it a thoughtful gift 🎁 or a cherished addition to any ceramics collection.
